John W. Creager
Mr. Creager was admitted to the Colorado bar in 2020. He has extensive experience in contract law, real estate law, and mediation. He developed a significant amount of skills during all of his professional endeavors that make him uniquely qualified and prepared to help clients in complex and high conflict family law matters.
Prior to attending law school, Mr. Creager was a successful real estate broker in Colorado where he worked in residential sales and leasing, land sales, commercial leasing, and property management. He is currently a licensed real estate broker.
In addition, Mr. Creager spent a decade developing a local Colorado retail store into a nationwide chain and international wholesale distributor where he provided marketing, accounting, management, training, merchandising, commercial leasing, and legal support.
Mr. Creager discovered his passion for practicing family law in law school. As a father himself, he understands a parent’s love for his children and is dedicating his career to helping clients overcome the struggles and often contentious realities of family separation. Mr. Creager brings a passionate and meticulous work ethic to the practice of law.
Mr. Creager acquired a BA from the University of Colorado at Denver where he majored in political science and regularly appeared on the Dean’s List. He went on to acquire his Juris Doctorate from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2019 where he received the Award for Excellence in Alternative Dispute Resolution.
Mr. Creager grew up in a diverse southern California community, but his family ties in Colorado date back to the late 1800s. He has called Colorado home since 2002. Following the age of twelve, Mr. Creager was raised in separate homes and experienced first-hand the emotional and financial difficulties faced by families during and following divorce. Mr. Creager’s background has shaped his desire to be a strong and dedicated advocate for parents and their children.
Mr. Creager believes that resolving family disputes amicably through communication is in the best interest of the family involved. However, he understands that every family situation comes with a set of unique circumstances that require a strong advocate to fight for fair, reasonable, and just outcomes for his clients, even if that means a Court must decide a client’s fate.
As a former accountant and business developer, Mr. Creager understands the connection between finances and divorce better than most attorneys. Mr. Creager sees extensive knowledge of accounting as the backbone to strategic and favorable settlements in any divorce proceeding and therefore prepares his clients accordingly.
As a licensed Colorado real estate broker for many years, Mr. Creager has assisted a number of divorcing couples through the home selling process. He is updated on current market trends and understands how contributions during marriage lead to appreciation in home values. He uses that knowledge to leverage his client’s position during asset negotiations.
Mr. Creager is an active member of the Colorado Bar Association and the Family Law Section.
In 2022, Mr. Creager was awarded a tuition scholarship by the Colorado Bar Association for the Family Law Institute.
Mr. Creager served as a volunteer with Colorado Reading Partners where he tutored local elementary school ESL learners.
Mr. Creager served as the president of DU Law’s Student Animal Legal Defense Fund where his efforts including raising money for legal fees in support of abused and neglected animals and hosting informational and educational events for students and faculty.
Mr. Creager served as a volunteer youth soccer coach in Jefferson County, CO.
